HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Amy Farmer Derick 
4on the occasion of being named William Fremd High School's 
5distinguished graduate for 2011; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick is a 1994 graduate of William 
7Fremd High School in Palatine; she is currently a 
8board-certified dermatologist; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has published scholarly 
10articles in the areas of vascular surgery and dermatology; she 
11is the author of the dermatology chapter of the book, "The 
12Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Medical Specialty", and the 
13marketing chapter of the book, "Cosmetic Bootcamp Primer"; her 
14pioneering research on body art has received global recognition 
15and has been featured or discussed in The Wall Street Journal, 
16on CNN, and on The View; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick played an integral role in 
18broadening awareness of the demographics and risks associated 
19with the resurgence of body art; she served as a media resource 
20for the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women's 
21Dermatologic Society; she has also allowed high school students 
22who are interested in the field of dermatology to shadow her

1during workdays at her business, Derick Dermatology in 
2Barrington; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick was recently named to the 
4faculty of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of 
5Medicine as a clinical instructor; she also serves on the Board 
6of Directors of the Women's Dermatologic Society; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has achieved academic 
8excellence in high school, graduate, and post graduate studies; 
9and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has served as a model of hard 
11work, integrity, dedication, and success for the people of 
12Northwest Cook County and the State of Illinois; therefore, be 
13it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
16we congratulate Amy Farmer Derick on the occasion of being 
17named William Fremd High School's distinguished graduate for 
182011 and wish her continued success and happiness in the 
19future; and be it further
  
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
21presented to Amy Farmer Derick as a symbol of our esteem and
