| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Mosquito Abatement District Act is amended |
| 5 | | by changing Section 1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (70 ILCS 1005/1) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 74)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 1.
Any contiguous territory having a population of not |
| 8 | | less than
300 inhabitants and
and no part of which is already |
| 9 | | included in a mosquito
abatement district may be organized as a |
| 10 | | mosquito abatement district in
the following manner: |
| 11 | | Any 5% of the legal voters within the limits of the |
| 12 | | proposed mosquito
abatement district may petition the circuit |
| 13 | | court for the county in
which such territory lies, to order the |
| 14 | | question whether such territory
shall be organized as a |
| 15 | | mosquito abatement district under this Act to be
submitted to |
| 16 | | the legal voters of such territory, but every petition
shall be |
| 17 | | signed by at least 25 legal voters residing within the
|
| 18 | | territory proposed to be organized as a mosquito abatement |
| 19 | | district, and
in case such territory includes more than one |
| 20 | | city, village or
incorporated town, or any portions thereof, or |
| 21 | | includes one or more
cities, villages or incorporated towns, or |
| 22 | | any portion thereof and
territory not a part of any city, |
| 23 | | village or incorporated town, then
such petition must be signed |
