AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1981




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1981 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
 
4    Section 10. The Township Code is amended  by changing 
5Section 50-20 as follows:
 



6    (60 ILCS 1/50-20)



7    Sec. 50-20. Counties with no township collector. No 
8collector in counties under 100,000. 
9    (a) No collector in counties under 100,000. In counties 
10under
township organization, having a population of less than 
11100,000, there shall be
no township collector elected. The 
12county collector shall be ex-officio
township collector, and 
13all the duties of the township collector shall devolve
upon and 
14be performed by the county collector.

15    (b) No collector in counties over 2,000,000. In counties 
16having a population of more than 2,000,000 inhabitants there

1shall be no township collector elected on and after the 
2effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General 
3Assembly.  Upon the completion of the terms of office of 
4township collectors holding office on the effective date of 
5this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the township 
6assessor shall be the ex-officio township collector, and all 
7the duties of the township collector shall devolve upon and be 
8performed by the township assessor.

10    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
11becoming law.".
