Amends the Township Code and the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that any punitive damages awarded against a township or a municipality shall be capped at 2 times the amount awarded to the claimant or $250,000, whichever is greater.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 95-35 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 95-35. Punitive damages; cap. Any punitive damages |
| 8 | | awarded against a township shall be capped at 2 times the |
| 9 | | amount awarded to the claimant or $250,000, whichever is |
