<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>625 ILCS 5/12-502</reference><aliasreference>from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-502</aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that on and after the 180th day after the effective date of the amendatory Act, every vehicle which has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating or Gross Combination Weight Rating in excess of 26,000 pounds and a conventional cab configuration in which more than half of the engine length is forward of the foremost point of the windshield base and steering wheel bug in the forward quarter of the vehicle length shall, whenever operated either singly or in combination on highways other than controlled-access highways, be equipped with a convex mirror on the front of the vehicle. Provides that when the vehicle or combination is being operated, the mirror shall be adjusted so as to enable the operator to see all points on the imaginary horizontal line which extends the full width of the front of the vehicle and is 3 feet above the road and one foot directly forward from the midpoint of the front of the vehicle. Provides that the new provisions are inoperative if any federal agency or court of competent jurisdiction makes a final determination that the new provisions would render the State ineligible for the receipt of federal funds.
