SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Maxine Burkhalter Griffel of Carlinville, 
4who passed away on December 29, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born Thursday, February 21, 1918 in 
6Maquon, the daughter of  John and  Pearl (Grice) Swigart; she 
7later married Dale Burkhalter, who passed away in 1976; after 
8his death, she married Gilbert Griffel in 1982; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, She was a member of the Canton Methodist Church; 
10and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, She sold real estate and insurance in the Canton 
12area for several years; she enjoyed traveling and flowers, and 
13she volunteered at Carlinville Area Hospital; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; 
15and her husband, Gilbert; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Maxine Burkhalter Griffel is survived by her 
17stepson, Edwin Griffel (JuDee); her stepson, William Griffel 
18(Nancy); and her stepson, Richard Griffel (Janet); her  7 
19step-grandchildren; her 6 step great-grandchildren; her 
20special friends, Dave and Ardeth  Jokisch; and several cousins

1and other friends; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
4her family and friends, the passing of Maxine Burkhalter 
5Griffel; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Maxine Burkhalter Griffel as a 
8symbol of our sincere sympathy.
