| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Curtis Christian of Waukegan, who passed |
| 4 | | away on September 10, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Curtis Christian was born on April 26, 1927 in |
| 6 | | Waukegan to Roy Christian and Adeline Aikens; he was a lifelong |
| 7 | | Waukegan resident, graduated from Waukegan Township High |
| 8 | | School, and attended the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He was honorably discharged from the United States |
| 10 | | Army after combat in Korea; he came home to begin work for |
| 11 | | American Motors in Kenosha; during this time he met and married |
| 12 | | his beloved and devoted wife, Ann, and to this union two |
| 13 | | children were born; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He was an accomplished saxophonist and avid |
| 15 | | fisherman and found his true calling with the Waukegan Police |
| 16 | | Department; he moved up the ranks as a Youth Officer, |
| 17 | | Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, retiring as a Captain |
| 18 | | after 31 years; he was a member in good standing with the |
| 19 | | Little Fort Elks Lodge, the American Legion, and the Fraternal |
| 20 | | Order of Police, and he was a prior member of the National |
| 21 | | Organization of Black Law Enforcement, or NOBLE; and
|
