| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Roger Allen Ness of Newark, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 10, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ness was born on November 29, 1950, in |
| 6 | | Morris; his parents were Harold and Elizabeth (Miner) Ness; he |
| 7 | | married Nancy (Knudson) on November 1, 1969 at the Platteville |
| 8 | | Lutheran Church; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ness was a graduate of Newark High School |
| 10 | | and the Aurora Barber College; he was employed as a barber for |
| 11 | | 40 years, having cut hair at the City Barbershop in Geneva and |
| 12 | | the Country Cousins Hair Place in Newark; he was famous among |
| 13 | | his customers for giving the fastest haircut around; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ness served on the Newark Village Board; he |
| 15 | | also served as the Mayor of Newark for 20 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ness was a member of the Newark Lutheran |
| 17 | | Church and the Newark Fire Department; he had served as a coach |
| 18 | | with the Newark Little League and Pony League; in 2000, he |
| 19 | | became a member of the I.B.C.A. Hall of Fame for his dedication |
| 20 | | as scorekeeper with the Newark High School basketball team and |
| 21 | | games for over 23 years; he was also a member and volunteer |
