SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Richard DeVereaux Vanek, a longtime 
4resident of Oak Park, who passed away on April 15, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago; he was a fixture in St. 
6Catherine-St. Lucy Parish and served the village as an election 
7judge and a Republican precinct captain; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, He often held court on his front steps and invited 
9any and all to imbibe in a drink and friendly banter; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Family and friends say they will remember his 
11quick wit, contagious laughter, and huge smile, that he died an 
12honest and devoted family man, who will always be remembered as 
13one of the good ones; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Vanek is survived by his wife of 45 years, 
15Susan; his children, Charles (Jenifer), Victor (Kathleen), 
16Laura (Brooks) Blevins, Adam (Bonnie), and Amanda (Matthew) 
17Walton; and his grandchildren Tess, Aaron, Kevin, Leah, Mary, 
18Mildred, William, Charles, Hugh, Leo, and Ellie; therefore, be 
19it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
2his family and friends, the passing of Richard Vanek; and be it
