SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Robert "Bob" Waldmire, who passed away on 
4
December 16, 2009; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Robert Waldmire was born on April 19, 1945, in St. 
6
Louis; his parents were Edwin and Virginia Waldmire; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Robert Waldmire grew up in Springfield and 
8
Rochester; he graduated from Rochester High School and attended 
9
Springfield College in Illinois (now Benedictine University at 
10
Springfield) SIU-Carbondale, and ASU; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Robert Waldmire had a lifelong career as a 
12
traveling artist drawing college bird's-eye view calendar 
13
maps; in the late 1980s, he began focusing his efforts and 
14
talents on documenting and preserving Old Route 66 from Chicago 
15
to San Bernardino; his meticulous artwork recreates much of the 
16
old highway as it used to be and continues to stimulate renewed 
17
interest in this National Historic Landmark; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Robert Waldmire was preceded in death by his 
19
parents; and

    WHEREAS, Robert Waldmire is survived by his son, Jim

Graham; his grandchildren, Mia and Parker; his brothers, Bill 
2
(Arlene), Buz, Jeff (Carol), and Tom; his sister-in-law, Sue 
3
Waldmire; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his family and friends, the passing of Robert "Bob" Waldmire; 
7
and be it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Robert Waldmire as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
