SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Chester Thomas Zanck of Woodstock, formerly of Crystal Lake and Lake in the Hills, who passed away on January 9, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 26, 1917, in Chicago; he was the second of eight children born to Bernard and Viola Zanck; he married Estelle on October 28, 1939; and

WHEREAS, He was a proud member of the United States Marines and served his country in the Pacific theater during World War II; he and his family moved to Lake in the Hills in 1951, where they lived a total of 40 years; he and his wife then moved to Crystal Lake, where they resided until relocating to the Hearthstone community the latter part of their lives; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his full-time job as a repair/serviceman for Peoples Gas and as an insurance agent, he served on the first village board of Lake in the Hills and took part in many of the events in the early days of the village; he was active in St. Margaret Mary Parish in Algonquin throughout its early days and continued to attend services and functions there until he moved to Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle; his daughter, Barbara; and his brother, George; and

WHEREAS, Chester Zanck is survived by his son, Tom (Charie) Zanck; his daughter, Judy (Paul) Mercer; his son-in-law, Jim Tegtmeier (Jackie Witt); his 6 grandchildren, Toni, Erin, Joe, Jason, Beth, and Adam; his 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers and their wives; his sisters and their husbands; and his wife's family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Chester Zanck; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chester Zanck as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
