SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carole Diane Driscoll of Houston, Texas, who passed away on November 26, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on November 26, 1941; she grew up in Houston and graduated from Reagan High School; she married in 1965 and had three sons, Jim Perdue, Jr., Joe Perdue, and Jeff Perdue; she then returned to school, earning her degree from the University of Houston, followed by a Masters in Social Work; and

WHEREAS, She worked at DePelchin and MHMRA for the last 18 years, and retired in July; she was a founding board member of Children at Risk, a child advocacy group who honored her with their Twentieth Year Accolades Award in October; she was active in the Emergency Aid Coalition, delivering food and services to the needy; and

WHEREAS, She served her faith and her church, St. Paul's United Methodist Church; she abhorred war and believed humankind was put on earth to learn love; as an active member of her church for over 45 years, she taught Sunday School and the Confirmation Class, helped lead youth and adult Mission trips, served as the Church Administrative Board Chair, and Chair of the Wesley Foundation Board; she preached the Sunday sermon as lay leader and was an active Stephen Minister for the past 15 years; and

WHEREAS, She married Vic Driscoll on November 9, 1996 and gained two loving daughters, Diane and Elizabeth; and

WHEREAS, She leaves six grandsons and two granddaughters whom she adored, doted over, and filled with love and energy at every chance; her husband, Vic Driscoll; her daughter, Diane Hurtado, her husband, Danny, and their daughter, Sylvia; her daughter, Elizabeth Rainwater, her husband, Ryan, and their three sons, Reid, Dylan, and Nicolas; her son, Jim M. Perdue, Jr., his wife Nicole, and their three sons William, John, and Charles; her son, Joe Perdue, his wife, Kelly, and their daughter, Samantha; and her son, Jeff Perdue; her close friends beyond counting; her co-workers; her co-teachers; her mentees; her Book Club; her Supper Club; her Church Fellows; her world travel companions; her close compatriots of years; the Pearls, her girlfriends for over five decades; her legacy of patients and their families; and her students; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Carole Driscoll; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carole Driscoll as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
