SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class Michael Pearson of Bolingbrook, who passed away on November 5, 2009; and

WHEREAS, PFC Michael Pearson was born on February 6, 1987 in Bolingbrook; he graduated from Bolingbrook High School in 2006; after graduating from high school and working at a furniture company for a short time, he joined the military to serve his country and gain a sense of accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, PFC Michael Pearson joined the United States Army in October of 2008; he was assigned to the 510th Engineer Company of the 20th Engineer Battalion to learn how to defuse explosives and roadside bombs; and

WHEREAS, PFC Michael Pearson enjoyed playing his guitar, particularly if his father joined in, writing songs, and spending time with his family at home; his idol was guitar legend Jimi Hendrix; and

WHEREAS, PFC Michael Pearson is survived by his parents, Sheryll and Jeff Pearson; his brothers, Jason and Kristopher Craig; and his sister, Julie Craig; and

WHEREAS, PFC Michael Pearson's patriotism and courage will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of United States Army Private First Class Michael Pearson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of PFC Michael Pearson and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of PFC Michael Pearson as an expression of our sympathy.
