| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Eugene A. Kowalis of Orland Park; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Kowalis was born and raised in Bridgeport |
| 5 |
| and attended Tilden High School; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Kowalis served his country with pride and |
| 7 |
| distinction as a member of the U.S. Army Highway Patrol in |
| 8 |
| Germany during the early 1950s; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In 1954, Eugene Kowalis married his high school |
| 10 |
| sweetheart, Rosemary, and began his career in the auto industry |
| 11 |
| as a Cadillac salesman in Chicago; starting a successful series |
| 12 |
| of car dealerships, he opened Midlothian Mazda in 1971 and |
| 13 |
| Midlothian Toyota in 1977; in 1984, he moved his family to |
| 14 |
| Orland Park and founded Orland Toyota; in 1989, he acquired the |
| 15 |
| Lexus of Orland and Lexus of Merrillville franchises; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Kowalis was well known in his community as |
| 17 |
| a philanthropist; when his son, Eugene, was born with |
| 18 |
| developmental challenges, he became involved with St. |
| 19 |
| Coletta's, especially the organization's Caritas Society, and |
| 20 |
| the Kennedy School in Tinley Park; and
