SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael Durrell McCurine, who passed away on July 19, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Michael McCurine was born on June 8, 1985 in Chicago; his parents were Michael Hunley and Angela McCurine Williams; and

WHEREAS, Michael McCurine attended Hinton Elementary School and graduated from Earle Elementary School; he then attended Simeon High School until his junior year, when he relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota and received his GED from a special program; and

WHEREAS, Michael McCurine confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chicago; he later joined the House of Joy under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Lacy and was active in the maintenance of the church; and

WHEREAS, Michael McCurine is survived by his parents; his daughters, Imani, Makiya, and Mya; his grandmother, Jannie McCurine; his grandfather, J.D. Hunley; his grandparents, Stella and Lacy; his brothers, Matthew and Marcus; his sisters, Monika and Trinette; his many other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his special friends, Kinyata and Ms. Domo; and

WHEREAS, Michael McCurine will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a thoughtful, respectful, helpful, and humorous young man whose beautiful personality and love for his family endeared him to everyone he met; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael Durrell McCurine; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael McCurine as an expression of our sympathy.
