SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald J. Lahey of Round Lake, who passed away on June 22, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born on February 14, 1933 in Waukegan to Margaret and James Lahey; he graduated from Warren High School and enlisted in the United States Army thereafter; and

WHEREAS, After his time of service, he worked at the Great Lakes Naval Base as a maintenance electrician where he met his wife, Sheila (nee, Gesford); he joined IBEW Local #150 Electrical Union in 1964 and retired in 1995; and

WHEREAS, He was an enthusiastic golfer and bowler, an avid reader, and a semi-enthusiastic Cubs, Bears, and Hawks fan; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Anne Lahey; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his children, Steven (Patti) Lahey, Dale (Angelo) Caliendo, Susan (William) Ryan, and Daniel (Lidia) Lahey; his sister, Phyllis (John) Elsbury; his brothers, Richard (Pamela) Lahey and Leonard Lahey; his grandchildren, Christopher Lahey, Steven Amann, Christina Amann, Kelly Ryan, Nicole Lahey, Riley Lahey, and a grandson born in June; his great-grandchild, Faith Saldivar; and his granddogs, Dakota and Daisy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Donald Lahey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Lahey as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
