| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Bessie Lee Redmond of Chicago, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on June 1, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Bessie Lee Redmond was affectionately known as |
| 6 |
| "Tee"; she was born on March 27, 1927 in Shelby, Mississippi to |
| 7 |
| the late Angeline Jackson and Henry Brinkley; she was the |
| 8 |
| youngest of 7 children, 4 sisters and 2 brothers who preceded |
| 9 |
| her in death; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She was educated in the Bolivar County School |
| 11 |
| System; she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age; she joined |
| 12 |
| Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1968 under the |
| 13 |
| leadership of Reverend V.B. Harris; she later joined the Rock |
| 14 |
| of Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of |
| 15 |
| Reverend Samuel L. Douglas; she served in the church as a |
| 16 |
| member for 26 years and as President of the Usher Board; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, She moved to Chicago in 1948; and she married |
| 18 |
| William Redmond in 1969; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Bessie Lee Redmond is survived by her daughter, |
| 20 |
| Bernice Liddell; her grandson, Ronald Williams; her |
| 21 |
| granddaughter, Shanti Liddell; her adopted daughters, Beverly |
