| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Helen Rachael Reed of Zion, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on February 17, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born October 31, 1919, in Champaign, to |
| 6 |
| James and Kathryn McWilliams; she graduated from Mattoon High |
| 7 |
| School in 1937; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Following many years as a housewife and mother, |
| 9 |
| Helen was employed for 18 years as an x-ray therapist and as |
| 10 |
| supervisor of the E.E.G. department at Victory Memorial |
| 11 |
| Hospital in Waukegan before retiring in 1980;
Helen was an |
| 12 |
| active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan for |
| 13 |
| many years, serving as an ordained Deacon, an officer in the |
| 14 |
| Women's Association, ladies bible study, and sewing group; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Her personal talents included being an excellent |
| 16 |
| cook and an accomplished seamstress; relationships were a |
| 17 |
| particular passion, and Helen savored her roles as wife, |
| 18 |
| mother, grandmother, and friend to many; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, She was married to William J. Walter for 43 years, |
| 20 |
| who preceded her in 1984; and
