| | ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new |
| Proposes to amend the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Constitution to provide that a marriage can only be between one man and one woman. Provides that the uniting of persons of the same sex in a civil union, domestic partnership, or other similar same sex relationship shall not be valid or recognized in Illinois. Effective upon being declared adopted.

| 8 | | this resolution a proposition to add Section 9 to Article XIII |

| 11 | | GENERAL PROVISIONS
|
| 12 | | (ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new)

| 13 | | SECTION 9. SAME SEX MARRIAGE
|
| 14 | | Only marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid |
| 15 | | or recognized in Illinois. The uniting of persons of the same |
| 16 | | sex in a civil union, domestic partnership, or other similar |
| 17 | | same sex relationship shall not be valid or recognized in |
| 18 | | Illinois.

| 20 | | This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being |
| 21 | | declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois |
| 22 | | Constitutional Amendment Act. |
