     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Modifies the definition of a "nondivisible load or vehicle" to include a shipping container destined for international shipment or inbound from a foreign  country for domestic delivery.

| 1 |  |     AN ACT concerning transportation.
  
 | 
| 2 |  |     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
  | 
| 3 |  | represented in the General Assembly:
  
 
 | 
| 4 |  |     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended  by changing  | 
| 5 |  | Section 1-148.8 as follows:
 
 | 
| 6 |  |     (625 ILCS 5/1-148.8)
 | 
| 7 |  |     Sec. 1-148.8. Nondivisible load or vehicle.  | 
| 8 |  |     (a) A load or vehicle that when
separated into
smaller  | 
| 9 |  | loads or vehicles further dismantling would:
 | 
| 10 |  |         (1) Compromise the intended use of the load or vehicle  | 
| 11 |  | or make it unable
to
perform the function for which it was  | 
| 12 |  | intended.
 | 
| 13 |  |         (2) Destroy the value of the load or vehicle or make it  | 
| 14 |  | unusable for its
intended purpose.
 | 
| 15 |  |         (3) Require more than 8 work hours to dismantle using
 | 
| 16 |  | appropriate
equipment.  The applicant for a nondivisible  | 
| 17 |  | load has the burden of proof as to
the number of work hours  | 
| 18 |  | required to dismantle the load.
 | 
| 19 |  |     (b) A shipping container destined for international  | 
| 20 |  | shipment or inbound from a foreign  country for domestic  | 
| 21 |  | delivery.  |
