| 2 |  |         3. The operator of the leading vehicle in a funeral  | 
| 3 |  | procession shall
comply with stop signs and traffic control  | 
| 4 |  | signals but when the leading
vehicle has proceeded across  | 
| 5 |  | an intersection in accordance with such signal
or after  | 
| 6 |  | stopping as required by the stop sign, all vehicles in such
 | 
| 7 |  | procession may proceed without stopping, regardless of the  | 
| 8 |  | sign or signal
and the leading vehicle and the vehicles in  | 
| 9 |  | procession shall proceed with
due caution.
 | 
| 10 |  |     (b) The operator of a vehicle not in the funeral procession  | 
| 11 |  | shall not
drive his vehicle in the funeral procession except  | 
| 12 |  | when authorized to do so
by a traffic officer or when such  | 
| 13 |  | vehicle is an authorized emergency
vehicle giving audible or  | 
| 14 |  | visible signal.
 | 
| 15 |  |     (c) Operators of vehicles not a part of a funeral  | 
| 16 |  | procession may not
form a procession or convoy and have their  | 
| 17 |  | headlights or hazard lights or both lighted
for the
purpose of  | 
| 18 |  | securing the right-of-way granted by this Section to funeral
 | 
| 19 |  | processions.
 | 
| 20 |  |     (d) The operator of a vehicle not in a funeral procession  | 
| 21 |  | may overtake
and pass the vehicles in such procession if such  | 
| 22 |  | overtaking and passing can
be accomplished without causing a  | 
| 23 |  | traffic hazard or interfering with such
procession.
 | 
| 24 |  |     (e) The lead vehicle in the funeral procession may be  | 
| 25 |  | equipped with a
flashing amber light which may be used only  | 
| 26 |  | when such vehicle is used as a
lead vehicle in such procession.  |

| 1 |  | Vehicles comprising a funeral procession
may utilize funeral  | 
| 2 |  | pennants or flags or windshield stickers or flashing
hazard  | 
| 3 |  | warning signal flashers to identify
the individual vehicles in  | 
| 4 |  | such a procession.
 | 
| 5 |  |     (f) A funeral director or his or her designee may direct  | 
| 6 |  | traffic during a funeral procession.  |

| 8 |  |     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon  |
