| AN ACT concerning safety.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Junkyard Act is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 1 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (415 ILCS 95/1) (from Ch. 121, par. 461)

| Sec. 1.
For the
the purpose of promoting the public safety, |
| 8 |
| health, welfare,
convenience and enjoyment of public travel, to |
| 9 |
| protect the public
investment in public highways, and to |
| 10 |
| preserve and enhance the scenic
beauty of lands bordering |
| 11 |
| public highways, it is declared to be in the
public interest to |
| 12 |
| regulate and restrict the establishment, operation, and
|
| 13 |
| maintenance of junkyards or scrap processing facilities in |
| 14 |
| areas adjacent
to the Federal-Aid Interstate and Federal-Aid |
| 15 |
| Primary Systems of Highways
within this State. Junkyards or |
| 16 |
| scrap processing facilities which do not
conform to the |
| 17 |
| requirements of this Act are declared to be public
nuisances. |
