| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize State Representative | ||||||
| 4 | Ron Wait for his outstanding service and hard work on behalf of | ||||||
| 5 | the people of the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait, who was first elected in | ||||||
| 7 | 1983, has served a total of 25 years in the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 8 | Representatives, making him the longest currently serving | ||||||
| 9 | House Republican member;
and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, In addition to his service as State | ||||||
| 11 | Representative, he has served his community as an accountant, | ||||||
| 12 | attorney, coach, farm manager, and special education teacher; | ||||||
| 13 | he holds a J.D. from Drake University Law School, an M.B.A. | ||||||
| 14 | from Northern Illinois University, an M.S. in Special Education | ||||||
| 15 | from Northern Illinois University, and a B.S. in Accounting | ||||||
| 16 | from Drake University; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait served as a Trustee at | ||||||
| 18 | Belvidere United Methodist Church, a Trustee at the Citizen's | ||||||
| 19 | Waste Management Board, and as a Trustee at The Children's Home | ||||||
| 20 | and Aid Society; he also served on the Highland Hospital Board | ||||||
| 21 | where he was previously president, the Janet Wattles Mental | ||||||
| 22 | Health Board, as well as The United Way Advisory Board; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait played a pivotal role in the | ||||||
| 2 | citing and retention of the Chrysler Assembly facility in | ||||||
| 3 | Belvidere that has fueled the local economy and created | ||||||
| 4 | thousands of jobs throughout his representative district;
and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait has been a tireless advocate | ||||||
| 6 | for the reduction of teen smoking, focusing on increasing | ||||||
| 7 | education, and deterrents aimed at tobacco and minors; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait has consistently stood by his | ||||||
| 9 | belief that, in all, the State of Illinois is better served by | ||||||
| 10 | less legislation and regulation and therefore consistently | ||||||
| 11 | maintained a minimalistic legislative philosophy where less | ||||||
| 12 | was more; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Representative Wait will be conspicuously missed | ||||||
| 14 | as a permanent fixture at nearly every extra-curricular | ||||||
| 15 | function and reception to be added to the social calendar as he | ||||||
| 16 | has been during his twenty five years of service to the people | ||||||
| 17 | of northwest Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Representative Ron Wait on his retirement from the | ||||||
| 21 | Illinois House of Representatives and wish him the best in his | ||||||

| 1 | future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to State Representative Ron Wait as a symbol of | ||||||
| 4 | gratitude for his years of service.
