| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate State Representative Paul | ||||||
| 4 | Froehlich on his retirement after eight years of dedicated | ||||||
| 5 | service to the people of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich has been a determined | ||||||
| 7 | and thoughtful lawmaker and advocate for the people of the 56th | ||||||
| 8 | District, which includes Bloomingdale, Elk Grove, Hanover | ||||||
| 9 | Park, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, and | ||||||
| 10 | Schaumburg; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Prior to becoming a State representative, | ||||||
| 12 | Representative Froehlich proudly served on the District 54 | ||||||
| 13 | Board of Education from 1989 to 1993, as a Schaumburg Township | ||||||
| 14 | School Trustee in 1997 and 1998, and as Schaumburg Township | ||||||
| 15 | Assessor from 2002 to 2004; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich has a long history of | ||||||
| 17 | community involvement; he served as the Chairman of the Standby | ||||||
| 18 | Local Draft Board and Chairman of the Schaumburg Village | ||||||
| 19 | Scholarship Committee; he was a member of the Schaumburg Police | ||||||
| 20 | Pension Board from 1996 to 2003; and a founding Board Member of | ||||||
| 21 | the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists from 1982 to 1995; | ||||||
| 22 | and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich worked as a high school | ||||||
| 2 | teacher for 13 years and as a lawmaker has had a passion for | ||||||
| 3 | improving education in Illinois; throughout his career as a | ||||||
| 4 | public servant, he has worked to encourage efforts to close the | ||||||
| 5 | achievement gap threatening the potential of so many students | ||||||
| 6 | and to create better educational opportunities for all Illinois | ||||||
| 7 | students; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich has guided many | ||||||
| 9 | consequential pieces of legislation through the General | ||||||
| 10 | Assembly; he has worked to raise awareness of the dangers that | ||||||
| 11 | pesticides pose to vulnerable populations, as well as, | ||||||
| 12 | environmental hazards throughout Illinois in need of | ||||||
| 13 | remediation; and he has worked to safeguard our water supplies | ||||||
| 14 | by preventing pollution in Lake Michigan; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich has been a leader in | ||||||
| 16 | promoting safety on our roads, strengthening DUI laws and | ||||||
| 17 | developing graduated driving privileges and refinements to | ||||||
| 18 | laws covering teen motorists to reduce fatalities, injuries, | ||||||
| 19 | and help them learn to be careful drivers; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, During his tenure in the House, Representative | ||||||
| 21 | Froehlich has served on many committees, including most | ||||||
| 22 | recently as Chairman of the Cities and Villages Committee and a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | member of the Elementary and Secondary Education, | ||||||
| 2 | Environmental Health, Prison Reform, Railroad Industry, School | ||||||
| 3 | Transportation, and State Government Administration | ||||||
| 4 | Committees; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich earned a reputation as a | ||||||
| 6 | lawmaker who was bound to follow his conscience and do what he | ||||||
| 7 | thought to be in the best interests of his constituents, | ||||||
| 8 | regardless of any personal consequences to be faced as a result | ||||||
| 9 | of his decisions; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich and his wife, Marilyn, | ||||||
| 11 | are the proud parents of three children; he is a proud graduate | ||||||
| 12 | of Northeastern Illinois University, from which he received a | ||||||
| 13 | B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in History; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Representative Froehlich has served his | ||||||
| 15 | constituents with distinction and will be missed by his | ||||||
| 16 | colleagues; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate State Representative Paul Froehlich on his | ||||||
| 20 | retirement from the Illinois House of Representatives; and be | ||||||
| 21 | it further

| 2 | presented to State Representative Paul Froehlich as a token of | ||||||
