HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Erin Vaughan on her 
4receipt of  the 2010 Chicago Jefferson Award for Public Service; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, She is Vice President of External Affairs at 
7ARAMARK; she spends her professional and personal time in 
8community service, helping children, and helping the 
9underprivileged; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, She serves on several committees and boards, 
11including: Teen Parent Connection, the United Way, the Jane 
12Addams Hull House, and After School Matters; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, She is actively involved in fundraising, 
14volunteering,  and organizing fundraising events, including 
15silent auctions, training the underprivileged for job 
16opportunities, teaching children and parents about healthy 
17food choices, leading numerous donation drives for coats, food, 
18Santa letters, and school supplies to benefit many in the 
19Chicago metropolitan area; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Her life experiences have taught her the 
21importance of helping others and lending a hand; and

1    WHEREAS, The Jefferson Awards for Public Service program 
2was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator 
3Robert Taft, Jr., and Samuel Beard to establish a national 
4award for public and community service, analagous to the Nobel 
5Prize, along with similar local awards; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we  
8congratulate Erin Vaughan on being presented with the 2010 
9Chicago Jefferson Award for Public Service and wish her 
10continued success in the future; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Erin Vaughan as a symbol of our respect and 
13esteem.
