HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Phyllis Jacobek, 
4Mokena Community Public Library District Director, on her 
5retirement; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, She will retire on January 18, 2010; she has 
7served in her current position since August of 1997; she began 
8with the Library as a business administrator in 1995; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, She wrote, and was successfully funded, with over 
10$850,000.00 in grant funds from the Illinois State Library and 
11federal government for technology grants; the Library now 
12houses over 70 computers, including job training workstations, 
13Wi-Fi access, and a specialty Assistive Technology Workstation 
14for the blind and visually impaired; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, In                     September of 2010, she was awarded the 
16Alexander Skrzypek Award, given annually by the Illinois State 
17Library and Illinois Library Association to a person in the 
18State of Illinois who has made a difference in his or her 
19community; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, She  is an active member and Director of the Mokena 
21Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Mokena Library, a member of

1the Lincoln-Way Professional Woman's Organization, and a 
220-year member of the Mokena Women's Club; she also recently 
3become a member of the Mokena Lion's Club; therefore, be it

  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6congratulate Phyllis Jacobek on her retirement and wish her the 
7best in her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Phyllis Jacobek as a symbol of our respect and 
10esteem.
