HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4Downers Grove Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team on the 
5occasion of the team's successful season; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Downers Grove All-Stars was one of 12 teams 
7that competed at the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament in 
8Logansport, Indiana; the team qualified to participate in the 
9regional tournament by winning the Northern Illinois State 
10Tournament held in La Grange by defeating Westmont in the 
11championship game by a score of 16-3; the team ended the 
12tournament with an impressive 4-0 record; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In the 1st round of the regional tournament, the 
14Downers Grove All-Stars held on to a one-run lead and defeated 
15host team Logansport by a score of 6-5; the squad's 
16second-round game against South Bend, Indiana ended in a 16-11 
17loss for Downers Grove; hampered by injuries to 3 players, the 
18team was subsequently eliminated from regional play by Saginaw 
19Valley, Michigan; and

  
 
20    WHEREAS, The members of the Downers Grove All-Stars are 
21Anthony Airdo, Luke Bondi, Jack Clemens, Mike Connolly, Alex 
22Emig, Nick King, Thomas Kochan, Zach Konezney, Dan Limanowski,

1Tommy Matysik, Matt Pabis, Costa Sampras, Josh Stirn, Eric 
2Wisz, and Dane Zarnowski; the team's manager is Leo Ellis and 
3the team's coaches are Mark Clavey, Mike Connolly, and Paul 
4Stirn; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate the members of the Downers Grove Babe Ruth 
813-year-old All-Star team on the occasion of the team's 
9accomplishments and wish them continued success and happiness 
10in the future; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Downers Grove All-Stars manager Leo Ellis as a 
13symbol of our esteem and respect.
