| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Marsha Zierk for |
| 4 | | receiving the 2010 Best High School Blood Drive Coordinator |
| 5 | | Award from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, In 2003, Marsha Zierk took over the organization |
| 8 | | of blood drives at Burlington Central High School, working with |
| 9 | | the school's National Honor Society students; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, In the past 7 years under Marsha Zierk's |
| 11 | | leadership, the donations collected at Burlington Central High |
| 12 | | School blood drives have more than tripled; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marsha Zierk has organized over 15 blood drives |
| 14 | | for Burlington Central High School and has collected over 1,607 |
| 15 | | pints of blood; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marsha Zierk has created a lot of enthusiasm for |
| 17 | | the high school drives by promoting Heartland Blood Centers' |
| 18 | | Red Cord Society; students earn membership to the Red Cord |
| 19 | | Society by donating blood at least 6 times before graduation; |
| 20 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Nine Burlington Central High School seniors |
| 2 | | achieved the Red Honor Cord and proudly displayed their |
| 3 | | achievement during the 2010 commencement ceremonies; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, As many as 50% of all eligible junior and senior |
| 5 | | students participate in Burlington Central High School blood |
| 6 | | drives; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, In response to the increased need for blood in the |
| 8 | | summer months, Marsha Zierk began hosting a blood drive in July |
| 9 | | of 2009 at the high school and spent part of her summer break |
| 10 | | working to insure its success; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The results of Marsha Zierk's efforts will |
| 12 | | continue to be seen for years to come because of the critical |
| 13 | | role high school blood drives play in cultivating lifetime |
| 14 | | donors; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, In 2010, the Heartland Blood Centers nominated |
| 16 | | Marsha Zierk as the "Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator" in |
| 17 | | a State-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of |
| 18 | | Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 | | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
