HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of 
4Monarch Award Foundation of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority 
5Inc.'s Xi Nu Omega Chapter on the occasion of hosting its 28th 
6Annual Monarch Awards Gala on December 4, 2010; and

 
7    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation was established in 
81988 as a non-profit programming and fundraising organization; 
9the foundation annually implements community-based programs 
10and fundraisers, awarding more than $600,000 in scholarships 
11and non-profit assistance since its inception; and

 
12    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation seeks to provide 
13programs of service to the community, alone and in partnership 
14with other organizations; the foundation also seeks to provide 
15scholarships to assist students in academic endeavors, to 
16provide assistance to community-based not-for-profits, to 
17provide referrals, information, and assistance to families, 
18and to acknowledge and foster cultural awareness and diversity; 
19and

 
20    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation's major fundraiser 
21is the annual Monarch Awards Gala; all profits from the Gala 
22are used to provide scholarships and donations to charitable

1organizations; and


 
2    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation and its Monarch 
3Awards Gala serve as models of compassion and community spirit 
4for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate the members of the Monarch Award Foundation of the 
8Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.'s Xi Nu Omega Chapter on the 
9occasion of hosting its 28th Annual Monarch Awards Gala and 
10wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be 
11it further

 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the members of Monarch Award Foundation as a 
14symbol of our esteem and respect.
