HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Donald E. Meyer on the 
4occasion of his retirement as the University of Illinois McLean 
5County Extension Director on August 15, 2010; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Donald Meyer earned his bachelor's degree in 
7agricultural education from Illinois State University and his 
8master's degree in education from the University of Illinois; 
9he also served as an agriculture instructor at Lexington High 
10School; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Donald Meyer began his career with the McLean 
12County office as an agriculture educator on August 21, 1983; In 
131990, he moved to the role of manager, where he oversaw all of 
14the unit's programs; at this time, he also continued to teach 
15workshops in agricultural awareness, horticulture, agriculture 
16economics, and pest management; he has taught credit courses at 
17Illinois State University for 13 semesters over the past 14 
18years, with courses in agronomy, turf, landscape management, 
19agriculture education, and introduction to horticulture; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Donald Meyer is a member of the Illinois Extension 
21Agriculture Association; he has been recognized for his work as 
22an Achievement Award winner in IEAA; he has received state

1awards in the IEAA program twice; he also presented a paper to 
2the National Association of County Agriculture Agents national 
3meeting in 1987; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Donald Meyer received the McLean County 
5Outstanding Service to Agriculture Award in 1990; he was 
6recognized for service to the ISU Agriculture Department in 
71992; he was also recognized by the University of Illinois 
8Extension, receiving the Award of Excellence for Sustained 
9Excellence in Extension Programming in 2000; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12congratulate McLean County Extension Director Donald E. Meyer 
13on his retirement and wish him the best in the future; and be 
14it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16present to McLean County Extension Director Donald E. Meyer as 
17a symbol of our respect and esteem.
