HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Donald 
4
McFadden, Sr., of Chicago, on his 17th anniversary of ministry, 
5
as the Chief Christian engineer of the St. Joseph Missionary 
6
Baptist Church in Chicago; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden attended Chicago Baptist 
8
Institute; he received his professional credentials from 
9
Illinois State University; he returned to his hometown of 
10
Chicago and presented his credentials as an engineer to the 
11
board of directors of St. Joseph, filling a vacancy as building 
12
engineer and watchman, as written in Ezekiel 2:1, "son of man, 
13
I have made you a  watchmen for the house of Israel, therefor 
14
hear a word from my mouth and give them warning from me"; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, He presented himself as a qualified engineer with 
16
the knowledge and mechanical understanding of heating, 
17
plumbing, electrical, and even auto repair, with the ability, 
18
the strength, and the hands to accomplish much; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, As chief engineer of the church, he has seen the 
20
congregation grow from 150 members to a congregation of now 
21
over 400 members; and

    WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden has the support of his members 
2
and his tireless life companion, love, and co-worker in 
3
Christian service, his wife and first lady, Sharon McFadden; 
4
and to this union God blessed them with five children; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, In December of 1992, the board of directors 
6
selected Donald McFadden to be pastor, giving him the 
7
credentials, the title, and the responsibility; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden founded a food and clothing 
9
program to help those in need; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden recognized the need for 
11
education, starting a community-wide annual summer bible 
12
school and a scholarship program; and




  
 
13
    WHEREAS, For 17 years Reverend McFadden has seen to the 
14
needs of his people, the people of the community, and anyone in 
15
need; he has served faithfully and has guided and changed lives 
16
around him; therefore, be it
  
 
17
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
19
congratulate Reverend Donald McFadden, Sr., on his 17 years of 
20
ministry and wish him continued success for years to come; and 
21
be it further
