HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The deep and prolonged recession, along with high 
3
unemployment rates, have caused an increasing number of people 
4
to seek help with food assistance; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, The Northern Illinois Food Bank provides food to 
6
more than 500,000 people each year, an almost 170 percent 
7
increase since 2006; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, The Northern Illinois Food Bank expects to offer 
9
35 million pounds of food products to families and individuals 
10
in need this year; and
  
 

  
11
    WHEREAS, The Northern Illinois Food Bank, located in St. 
12
Charles, works with 520 partner agencies in 13 Illinois 
13
counties in keeping pace with the high demand for food in 
14
Northern Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
15
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
16
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
17
congratulate the Northern Illinois Food Bank on being named the 
18
2010 Member Food Bank of the Year by Feeding America networks 
19
and for being the model food bank among its 206 peers across 
20
the country; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That we recognized the Northern Illinois Food 
2
Bank for its extraordinary growth and its continued ability to 
3
meet the rising hunger challenge by helping neighbors in need; 
4
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the Northern Illinois Food Bank as a symbol of our 
7
respect and esteem.
