HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Qur'an Clanton of 
4
Alton; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Club of Alton 2010 Youth of the 
6
Year, Qur'an Clanton, won the Illinois Youth of the Year 
7
competition; the State competition showcased 21 youth, 
8
representing various Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the State; 
9
and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, In winning the State competition, Qur'an has 
11
secured $2,000 in scholarships towards college, and will move 
12
on to the regional competition to compete against youths from 
13
the 13 states representing the Midwest Region, for $10,000 in 
14
scholarship money; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, Qur'an works at the Boys and Girls Club in Alton, 
16
mopping and cleaning so others can enjoy the positive 
17
environment; Qur'an never complains and assists the staff 
18
wherever he is needed; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, He enjoyed working the sound and video system at 
20
the Christmas Bash at the Club; he also has worked with 
21
community service activities such as beautifying the park next

to the Club and blocks around the Catholic Children's Home; and

    WHEREAS, His greatest asset is being a role model to the 
3
younger children that attend the Club and is respected by 
4
everyone who gets to know him; therefore, be it
  
 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Qur'an Clanton and wish him the best in all his 
8
future endeavors; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Qur'an Clanton as a symbol of our respect and 
11
esteem.
