| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter E. |
| 4 |
| Skilbeck of Springfield, who passed away on March 15, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Walter Evans Skilbeck was born November 4, 1916, |
| 6 |
| in Trenton to Fred and Grace Hill Skilbeck; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He married Juanita Ora Fricke on October 5, 1966; |
| 8 |
| following high school Walter served his country in the United |
| 9 |
| States Army as a PFC in Company E, 17th Regiment, Seventh |
| 10 |
| Infantry Division, during World War II; he was awarded 4 Bronze |
| 11 |
| Stars and a Purple Heart for campaigns in the South |
| 12 |
| Philippines, Ryukyus, and the Aleutian Islands; h was wounded |
| 13 |
| in Leyte, on December 25, 1944, and Okinawa on April 23, 1945; |
| 14 |
| and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, After he returned home from serving his country, |
| 16 |
| he was a bus driver with Springfield Mass Transit, a mail |
| 17 |
| carrier for the United States Postal Service for 16 years |
| 18 |
| before retiring in 1980, and a paper carrier for The State |
| 19 |
| Journal-Register; he was a member of Calvary Temple Christian |
| 20 |
| Center; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; |
