HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Paul Brachle for 
4
being named 2010 Darien Citizen of the Year by the Darien City 
5
Council; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Paul Brachle and his loving wife of over 50 years, 
7
Marilyn, have lived in Darien for over 40 years; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, Paul Brachle was ordained as a deacon in the 
9
Catholic Church on September 14, 1985; he has participated in 
10
leading religious education classes and pre-marital 
11
counseling; he has helped establish small faith groups in his 
12
area; he also assists at Mass, baptisms, weddings, wakes, and 
13
funerals; and
 
14
    WHEREAS, Paul Brachle has dedicated great amounts of time 
15
and effort to help his community; he has served as 
16
administrator of an established food pantry at the Our Lady of 
17
Peace Church in Darien for almost 18 years; he has been 
18
involved with a local chapter of the "Cursillo Movement" since 
19
1974, having served as the organization's spiritual director, 
20
leader, and presenter; he served as vice-president of the 
21
Hinsbrook Homeowners Association and was on the original board 
22
of the Darien Swim and Racquet Club; he helped formulate the

idea of the St. Thomas Hospice; he has assisted Boy and Girl 
2
Scouts in earning their religious medals; he was  part of a 
3
Christian community that helped a Vietnamese family get settled 
4
in the Darien area; he worked on the bi-annual financial drive 
5
at Benet Academy from 1977 to 1987; he also visits home-bound 
6
people and 3 nursing homes to help where he can; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Paul Brachle serves as a model of hard work, 
8
integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
9
Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Paul Brachle for being named 2010 Darien Citizen 
13
of the Year and wish him continued success and happiness in the 
14
future; and be it further
  
 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Paul Brachle as a symbol of our esteem and 
17
respect.
