| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
United | ||||||
| 4 | States Air Force Senior Airman Bradley Smith of Troy, who | ||||||
| 5 | passed away on January 3, 2010, in Kandahar, Afghanistan; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith was born on September | ||||||
| 7 | 11, 1985, in Little Rock, Arkansas; his parents are Gary and | ||||||
| 8 | Paula, nee Forrest, Smith; he married Tiffany Finley on | ||||||
| 9 | February 19, 2008, in Monterey, California; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith graduated from Triad | ||||||
| 11 | High School in 2004; during high school, he was a member of the | ||||||
| 12 | football team; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, On December 19, 2006, Senior Airman Bradley Smith | ||||||
| 14 | joined the United States Air Force; after basic training, where | ||||||
| 15 | he was an honor graduate, he was assigned to the 10th Air | ||||||
| 16 | Support Operations Squadron as a joint terminal attack | ||||||
| 17 | controller in Fort Riley, Kansas and was highly trained in air | ||||||
| 18 | assault, pathfinder, and airborne qualifications; he was | ||||||
| 19 | posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for his service in | ||||||
| 20 | Afghanistan; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith was previously a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | member at Bethel Baptist Church, where he was active with the | ||||||
| 2 | church's youth ministry; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith was preceded in death | ||||||
| 4 | by his maternal grandfather, retired Master Sergeant Jesie | ||||||
| 5 | Forrest, and his paternal grandfather, Elmer Smith; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith is survived by his | ||||||
| 7 | wife, Tiffany; his parents, Gary and Paula; his daughter, Chloe | ||||||
| 8 | Lynn Smith; his brother and fiancee, Staff Sergeant Gary Ryan | ||||||
| 9 | Smith and Shawna Dorman; his paternal grandparents, retired | ||||||
| 10 | Sergeant Major Don and Barbara McBeth and Rebecca Smith; his | ||||||
| 11 | maternal grandmother, Fannie Mae Forrest; his mother-in-law | ||||||
| 12 | and father-in-law, Stanley and Valerie Tucker; his | ||||||
| 13 | sisters-in-law, Hannah and Jennifer Tucker; and his many other | ||||||
| 14 | extended family members and dear friends; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Senior Airman Bradley Smith's patriotism and | ||||||
| 16 | courage will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his | ||||||
| 17 | fellow soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; | ||||||
| 18 | therefore, be it

| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 21 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Senior | ||||||
| 22 | Airman Bradley Smith; and be it further
| ||||||
