HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the 
4
administration, staff, students, and alumni of the University 
5
of St. Francis (USF) on the occasion of the university's 
6
selection as a winner of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce 
7
and Industry's Salute of Accomplishment award to be presented  
8
on March 25, 2010; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, The University of St. Francis was founded in 1920; 
10
the university's mission is to provide a quality education 
11
based upon the Franciscan values of Respect, Integrity, 
12
Compassion, and Service; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, USF offers 38 undergraduate majors in arts and 
14
sciences, business, education, nursing and allied health, and 
15
social work programs; the university also offers 4 degree 
16
completion programs and 12 graduate programs, as well as the 
17
newly-created Doctor of Nursing Practice program; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, In addition to its main campus, USF also features 
19
the Rialto City Center campus in downtown Joliet, which is 
20
currently in use by the university's Arts & Design Department, 
21
and the Health & Wellness Center in Joliet, which is the first 
22
nurse practitioner-managed center to be created in Will County;

the university also posts NAIA intercollegiate team in men's 
2
and women's sports; and
  
 
3
    WHEREAS, USF serves the Joliet community and beyond through 
4
numerous cultural and educational programs through USF 
5
Solutions: A Resource Center for Business and Community 
6
Partnerships; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, USF has been ranked in the top tier of U.S. News & 
8
World Report's edition of "America's Best Colleges" for 5 
9
consecutive years; the university is also noted in The 
10
Princeton Review's "Best Colleges: Region by Region"; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, The employees and students of the University of 
12
St. Francis serves as models of hard work, integrity, and 
13
dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, 
14
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
16
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
17
congratulate the administration, staff, students, and alumni 
18
of the University of St. Francis (USF) on the occasion of the 
19
university's selection as a winner of the Joliet Region Chamber 
20
of Commerce and Industry's Salute of Accomplishment award and 
21
wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be 
22
