HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Wayne F. 
4
Prist, Pastor of Queen of All Saints Basilica in Chicago, on 
5
his retirement; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Father Wayne Prist was ordained a priest in 1967; 
7
his first assignment was as Associate Pastor of St. Giles in 
8
Oak Park; in 1975 he was assigned to St. John Berchmans in 
9
Chicago; in addition to this assignment, Father Prist served as 
10
an archdiocesan television producer and Associate to the Center 
11
for Pastoral Ministry; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, For seven years Father Prist produced a weekly 
13
show on NBC; he founded the Summer Scripture Seminary at the 
14
University of St. Mary of the Lake, a program which he directed 
15
for 22 years; in 1983 Cardinal Bernardin appointed him Director 
16
of the Center for Pastoral Ministry which moved in 1986 to the 
17
St. Mary of the Lake campus and evolved into the Center for 
18
Development in Ministry; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, Father Prist oversaw the renovation of the campus 
20
and served as the Director of the Center for Development in 
21
Ministry for 10 years; the Center for Development in Ministry 
22
served as the Archdiocesan host and resource for the

development of all its Pastoral Ministries; and
  
 
2
    WHEREAS, In February of 1996 Cardinal Bernardin appointed 
3
Father  Prist as the Pastor of Queen of All Saints Basilica; in 
4
September of 1997 Francis Cardinal George appointed Father 
5
Prist as Chairman of the Archdiocesan Millennium Committee, a 
6
responsibility he had until 2001; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Father Prist is retiring as Pastor of Queen of All 
8
Saints Basilica; therefore, be it
  
 
9
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11
congratulate Father Prist on his retirement, thank him for his 
12
many years of service to the citizens of Illinois, and wish him 
13
the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to Father Prist as a symbol of our respect and 
16
esteem.
