| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and |
| 4 |
| employees of Bound to Stay Bound, Inc., in Jacksonville on the |
| 5 |
| occasion of the company's 90th anniversary in 2010; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Bound to Stay Bound came into existence on January |
| 7 |
| 20, 1920, when Lawrence D. Sibert and William Suhy created the |
| 8 |
| New Method Book Bindery, Inc.; within a year of the company's |
| 9 |
| inception, Sibert and Suhy installed power machinery and hired |
| 10 |
| new employees to keep up with the company's robust growth; in |
| 11 |
| 1924, the company began buying new books from publishers and |
| 12 |
| re-binding them for use in public libraries and schools; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, In 1934, William Suhy retired and sold his |
| 14 |
| interest in the New Method Book Bindery to the Sibert family; |
| 15 |
| in 1937, the late Robert F. Sibert joined the company to help |
| 16 |
| his father manage the business; in August of 1978, the third |
| 17 |
| generation of the Sibert family, Robert L. Sibert, entered the |
| 18 |
| business, eventually becoming President in 1992; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In the spring of 1953, after careful studies of |
| 20 |
| the re-binding and pre-binding businesses, the Sibert family |
| 21 |
| decided to separate the departments; on December 31, 1953, a |
| 22 |
| new corporation, Hertzberg-New Method, Inc., was formed to take |
