HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to  learn of the death of
Ross 
4
Allen Kitchen; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen had a long and distinguished career 
6
as a firefighter; after serving 10 years as a firefighter, he 
7
became fire chief of the Marengo Fire Department, serving in 
8
that capacity from 1970 until his retirement in 2005; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen was a driving force in the creation 
10
of the Northern Illinois Fire Museum, of which he served as 
11
president emeritus; during his tenure as fire chief, he was 
12
instrumental in upgrading the department's fire equipment and 
13
training practices; and
  
 
14
    WHEREAS, Following his retirement as fire chief, Ross 
15
Kitchen enjoyed traveling and spending time with his 
16
grandchildren; and
  
 
17
    WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen is survived by his loving wife, 
18
Shirley Kitchen; his 4 daughters; his 10 grandchildren; and his 
19
great-granddaughter; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen will be remembered by all who knew

and loved him as a dependable family man, whose dedication to 
2
his family and his fellow firefighters was unmatched; 
3
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ross 
7
Allen Kitchen; and be it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Ross Kitchen as an expression of our 
10
sympathy.
