| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate George Zamp, World |
| 4 |
| War II Army Veteran, on being honored during the 8th Annual |
| 5 |
| Mayfair Remembrance Day: Salute to American Heroes; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, George Zamp joined the United States Navy after |
| 7 |
| high school graduation; he was assigned to the U.S.S. |
| 8 |
| Casablanca and trained as a gunner; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The U.S.S. Casablanca saw service in the Pacific |
| 10 |
| Theater of Operations, serving under the command of Admiral |
| 11 |
| Nimitz; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, George was honorably discharged in January of |
| 13 |
| 1946; he received the World War II Victory Medal, the |
| 14 |
| Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, the American Campaign Medal, |
| 15 |
| and the National Defense Medal; and |
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, After leaving the service he worked for his |
| 17 |
| brother at his gas station, then became a photo engraver for |
| 18 |
| Superior Graphics; he was a member of the photoengraver's union |
| 19 |
| for 32 years, as well as the Photoengravers Association of |
| 20 |
| America, where he received the Certificate of Craftsmanship, |
| 21 |
| its highest level of achievement; and
