HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Dalward J. DeBruzzi for 
4
his lifetime of dedicated service to his community; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served his country with pride and 
6
distinction as a member of the United States Navy during World 
7
War II; he served in the South Pacific and was present at the 
8
battle areas of Leyte Gulf, Palaway Island, Mindoro, San Pedro 
9
Harbor, Eniwetok, and Saipan; he received the Victory Medal, a 
10
Presidential Citation, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and 
11
the Pacific Area Combat Medal and was recommended for a Purple 
12
Heart for his meritorious service; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi earned a bachelor's degree in 
14
education from Illinois State University and a bachelor's 
15
degree in finance from Northeastern Illinois University; he 
16
then earned his master's degree from Loyola University; and
  
 
17
    WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served as a Chicago public school 
18
teacher for 38 years; he also served on the faculty of the 
19
Illinois Institute of Technology and Wright College; at IIT, he 
20
taught computer science and headed the Algebraic Computer 
21
Science program in 1972; he currently serves as a tutor to 
22
needy children in his spare time; and

    WHEREAS, During his tenure at IIT, Dalward DeBruzzi 
2
authored 2 books and used the proceeds from the sale of those 
3
books to purchase educational materials for his students; and
  
 
4
    WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served as a draft board 
5
commissioner; he also served on the Board of Election 
6
Commissioners for the City of Chicago for several years; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi received a Presidential Citation 
8
in 1982 from President Ronald Reagan; he also received a 
9
citation for public service from 
10
Langdon P. Neal, Chairman of the Board of Election 
11
Commissioners for the City of Chicago; therefore, be it
 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
honor Dalward J. DeBruzzi for his lifetime of dedicated service 
15
to his community and wish him continued success and happiness 
16
in the future; and be it further
  
 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Dalward DeBruzzi as a symbol of our esteem and 
19
respect.
