HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Samantha Stautz of 
4
Grandwood Park for her fundraising efforts on behalf of the 
5
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Ron Santo Walk 
6
for Diabetes; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, After attending the Ron Santo Walk for Diabetes 
8
Samantha decided to do more for the cause of juvenile diabetes; 
9
at first she thought of a bake sale, then made the decision to 
10
do a carnival for children to attend while their parents were 
11
shopping; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, Her fourth annual Kids Carnival was held September 
13
13, 2009 at Grandwood Park; entertainment and activities 
14
included the Serpent Safari of Gurnee Mills, a petting zoo from 
15
Buggy Whip Farm, performances by Magic Gary, face painting, a 
16
bake sale, games, and a clown; and
  
 
17
    WHEREAS, Samantha promoted her event through WIIL Rock 
18
radio in Pleasant Prairie; the carnival attracts about 250 
19
people each year and has raised over $7,000; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Samantha was inspired to do more because her 
21
cousin, Grace, was diagnosed with diabetes at an early age;

Samantha used the carnival to promote her Ron Santo Walk for a 
2
Cure team, Grace's Angels; and
  
 
3
    WHEREAS, The carnival was also supported by more than 30 
4
local sponsors, plus family, friends, and neighbors that helped 
5
with the event; therefore, be it
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
thank Samantha Stautz for her hard work and dedication to 
9
others through Grace's Angels and her annual Kids Carnival; and 
10
be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Samantha Stautz as a symbol of our respect and 
13
admiration.
