| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gregory R. Fischer |
| 4 |
| on the naming of a new middle school in Aurora after him; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Gregory R. Fischer Middle School was dedicated on |
| 6 |
| October 25, 2009 in honor of Mr. Fischer, an educator in the |
| 7 |
| Indian Prairie School District 204 for 32 years; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fischer is credited with leading the |
| 9 |
| district's transition from a traditional junior high school |
| 10 |
| model to the current term-oriented approach to middle schools; |
| 11 |
| the middle school model is a "whole child" approach that |
| 12 |
| stresses the importance of social, emotional, and intellectual |
| 13 |
| growth; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fischer retired in 2004; he began his career |
| 15 |
| as a physical education teacher at Indian Plains Grade School |
| 16 |
| and later served as the assistant principal at Waubonsie Valley |
| 17 |
| Junior/Senior High School; he was later named principal at |
| 18 |
| Thayer Hill Jr. High School; in 1987 he was named principal of |
| 19 |
| Gordon Gregory Middle School and served for the next seventeen |
| 20 |
| years; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Under his leadership, Gordon Gregory Middle |
