HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lubavitch Chabad 
4
of Northbrook on ten years of service; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, More than twenty years ago, Lubavitch Chabad of 
6
Northbrook began with a successful Chavurah study group of 
7
young professionals, led by Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, interested 
8
in exploring their Judaism; in 1998, a full time presence was 
9
established with the leasing of an office as a Jewish learning 
10
center and in 2001 Chabad moved to larger facilities to house 
11
their ever-growing activities and established a synagogue; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, Lubavitch Chabad of Northbrook is directed by 
13
Rabbi Meir and Miriam Moscowitz; programs include a Jewish 
14
Learning Institute, one-on-one study, youth clubs, Community 
15
Hebrew School, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparatory program, 
16
community synagogue, social services,  and holiday programs; 
17
and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz continues to serve as 
19
spiritual leader of Lubavitch Chabad; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, The programs are open to Jewish people of all 
21
backgrounds, affiliations, and level of observance; and

    WHEREAS, Karen Jossel and Philip and Illana Weintraub will 
2
be honored by Lubavitch Chabad during their celebration; Karen 
3
will receive the Chessed Award and the Weintraubs will receive 
4
the Lamplighters Award; therefore, be it
  
 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Lubavitch Chabad on their anniversary, and Karen 
8
Jossel and Philip and Illana Weintraub  on receiving awards; and 
9
be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Lubavitch Chabad, Karen Jossel, and Philip and 
12
Illana Weintraub as symbols of our respect and esteem.
