HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Polish 
4
American Congress on its National Conference and their 65th 
5
anniversary; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, The National Conference was held on October 15 and 
7
16, 2009 at Northeastern Illinois University; the theme of the 
8
conference was The Polish American Community in the 21st 
9
Century: Challenges and Opportunities; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, The conference offered participants the 
11
opportunity to share and experience ideas, aspirations, and 
12
thoughts from across the country; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Leaders from Chicago, Illinois, the United 
14
States, and the Government of Poland were in attendance and 
15
addressed the conference; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, Sessions focused on the profile of the current 
17
Polish American community (Polonia); leadership development; 
18
relations between the United States, the Polish American 
19
community, and Poland; and the future of Polonia; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, A reception and recital of the music of Chopin and

Paderewski concluded the conference; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
congratulate the Polish American Congress and their efforts and 
5
wish them the best in their anniversary year; and be it further
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to Frank J. Spula, Polish American Congress 
8
President, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
