| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
 |
| 2 | |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Greg DeCourcey on |
| 4 | | the occasion of his retirement as head baseball coach of |
| 5 | | Marquette Catholic High School after 33 years of dedicated |
| 6 | | service; and
 |
| 7 | |     WHEREAS, When Greg DeCourcey took the position of head |
| 8 | | baseball coach in 1977, the Marquette Catholic High School went |
| 9 | | 8-13 and gained little notice; however, within the next decade, |
| 10 | | Marquette would enjoy its finest run in school history, |
| 11 | | claiming Class A championships in 1980 and 1984 at Springfield |
| 12 | | and finishing second to Peru St. Bede in 1988; under Mr. |
| 13 | | DeCoursey's direction, the 1980 team won a school-record 31 |
| 14 | | games and Marquette went 243-78 during the decade; and
 |
| 15 | |     WHEREAS, Greg DeCourcey ended his baseball coaching career |
| 16 | | with an astounding 641-351-2 record, the 8th best on the |
| 17 | | all-time IHSA win list; his record gives him the most victories |
| 18 | | among coaches in southwestern Illinois; overall, his teams |
| 19 | | captured 15 regional and seven sectional championships and |
| 20 | | advanced to the IHSA finals seven times, compiling an 8-5 mark; |
| 21 | | and
 |
| 22 | |     WHEREAS, Following his retirement as head baseball coach, |
