HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to thank Stephen Rittenhouse for 
4
his years of service to the people of Bement; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Stephen Rittenhouse
served as Bement Village 
6
President from
May of 1977 through September of 1978,
May of 
7
1981 through April of 1989, and
from April of 2001 through May 
8
of 2009; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, He became Assistant Fire Chief in 1976 before 
10
becoming Fire Chief in 1992; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He started the Bement EMT Association in February 
12
of 1983, and he is still managing and answering emergency 
13
calls; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, He has been the Bement Emergency Services Disaster 
15
Agency Coordinator for many years; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Stephen Rittenhouse is a 1963 graduate of Bement 
17
High School; and he served in the United States Air Force 
18
during the Vietnam War;  and
 
19
    WHEREAS, In addition to his many responsibilities, he  also

works for the Bement Township Road District and is helping with 
2
the establishment of a Fire Fighters Museum in Kansas City, 
3
Kansas, traveling there several times throughout the year to 
4
assist in the reconstruction of fire engines; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
thank Stephen Rittenhouse for his years of service to the 
8
people of Bement and wish him the best in all his future 
9
endeavors; and be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Stephen Rittenhouse as a symbol of our respect.
