HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to thank Bill Mitze for his years 
4
of service to the City of Monticello; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Bill Mitze first joined the City of Monticello 
6
City Council in 1978 as an alderman; after serving for 8-years, 
7
he took an 8-year vacation from the Council, but later rejoined 
8
as an alderman, serving from 1994 to 2003; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, In 2003, he was appointed as Mayor of Monticello, 
10
and in 2005, Mr. Mitze won his first election as Mayor, a 
11
position which he held until 2009 when he ran for and was 
12
elected as alderman; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Bill Mitze was a high school teacher and coach for 
14
7 years, before stepping into the role of high school principal 
15
for 27 years; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Mr. Mitze has three grown children, Steve, Libby, 
17
and Jon and four grandchildren, Tara, Trent, Cooper, and 
18
Spencer; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Mr. Mitze and his wife, Pat, were charter members 
20
of the Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello; he is a member of

the Rotary Club, an avid reader, and a golfer; and he and his 
2
wife are enjoying their retirement in Monticello; therefore, be 
3
it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
thank Bill Mitze for his years of service to the City of 
7
Monticello and wish him continued success in all his future 
8
endeavors; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Bill Mitze as a symbol of our respect.
