HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Arcelia Watson, reading teacher at Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High School, on her retirement; and

WHEREAS, She spent the first six years of her 54 year teaching career at a school in East Lynn; she spent the rest in Paxton, first at the high school and the last 40 years serving at the junior high, where she taught English and reading; and

WHEREAS, During her career, she influenced decades of students, as well as a large group of present-day teachers in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda district, including her former student and now the principal of the junior high and her boss, Jeff Graham; and

WHEREAS, She is a sports fan and goes to numerous events, recently attending the Indianapolis 500 time trials; she has also attended many NASCAR races and also about 45 Indianapolis 500 races; she is a Green Bay Packers fan and a big University of Illinois fan; and

WHEREAS, She has served as an usher at sports events at Memorial Stadium and the Assembly Hall for many years, and her present duties are in the area of the press and private boxes; she also works at concerts at the Assembly Hall; and

WHEREAS, She likes to travel and has gone to Europe, Asia, South America, the Vatican, Red Square in Moscow, and The Great Wall of China; she is looking forward to continuing her travels with her son, Dennis Watson and her daughter, Susan Allen, and her five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Arcelia Watson on her retirement and years of service to the children of the Paxton-Buckley-Loda area; and we wish her the best in all her future travels and adventures; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Arcelia Watson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
